Classic Pork Schnitzel (Schweineschnitzel)
A classic German pork schnitzel – crispy, golden, and absolutely delicious. This easy-to-make dish is perfect for any occasion and pairs well with fries, potato salad, or a fresh green salad.
Ingredients
For the Schnitzel:
- 4 pork loin cutlets
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
For the Breading:
- 100 g all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 200 g breadcrumbs
For Frying:
- 200 ml vegetable oil
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Pound the pork cutlets to about 6 mm (1/4 inch) thickness.
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each cutlet first in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan to 165°C (330°F).
- Fry each schnitzel for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges.
